The following categories are always in house reads (books that must be read inside the library and which cannot be taken home):

  1. Material published up until 1899
  2. Childrens and YA-books
  3. Encyklopedias, dictionaries, quote collections
  4. Schoolbooks
  5. Coloring books and exercise books
  6. a) Books on leisure activities e.g. knitting, garden work

b) Books on sports and games e.g. chess, football

  1. Books on animal care and pets
  2. Travel books from 1958 and forward
  3. Fiction published in swedish
  4. ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Books with less than 50 pages
  5. Books bound by coil or a folder
  6. Newspapers
  7. Special collections
  8. Songbooks and musical notes
  9. Maps and atleses
  10. Very big and/or heavy book and very small books

UB reserves the right to change the status on a book at any given time. Please note that the status sometimes does not show in the library catalogue LUBcat.

Also note that researchers at the literature department are allowed to bring fiction published after 1900 to their office at LU. The researcher has to make an application about this, which has to be approved by UB. Applications are sent to info@ub.lu.se
